Canvas Project

Isabella Franjione Time for completion: 9 hours           My piece of art is a somewhat cubist version of Patrick Star, from the hit television show Spongebob Squarepants . I used the cubism style of art as an inspiration, so that I could incorporate more shapes into the piece, rather than just a lot of lines. I decided to present Patrick in the cubist manner and give him his iconic green shorts that he is always wearing. My favorite technique that I got to use in this project was the bezier curves because they were very difficult to implement, but I knew I needed them to make Patrick’s shorts really pop. The bezier curves were vital to my success in this project, I do believe.  Growing up, Spongebob was a television show that I would watch daily, as I had an obsession with it. I knew from the moment this project was assigned that I wanted to do a character from the show. This project took me nine hours to complete, and it seemed to me like the time really flew by, especially becau

Internet / World Wide Web

Bella Franjione Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn are the two “fathers” of the internet, and they are credited with the invention of it in 1973. They are the ones who laid the groundwork by designing transmission control protocol (TCP) and internet protocol (IP) that would allow data to flow between computers. The internet was really created when Kahn had a problem with making sure that computers, no matter the manufacturer, could communicate with each other. The internet was originally used in the Cold War for the United States to use as a “weapon” (Bidwell). Scientists and researchers would use the internet to share data and information with each other. Today, the internet is used for just about anything a person could want. We use the internet to entertain ourselves, research new ideas, or find out information that we want to know. The internet can do pretty much anything for us today.  Tim Berners-Lee created the world wide web in 1989. The web was originally made for scientists at d

Hello! My name is Isabella Franjione, but you can all call me Bella. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a puppy named Macho and two older brothers who are out of college. Growing up, sports were my entire life. I played softball, basketball, dance, gymnastics, swim, volleyball, and anything my school had that I could participate in. Eventually, I narrowed it down to volleyball and basketball, which are two club teams here at UT that I am interested in playing on. I really enjoy reading, shooting hoops, or going out with my friends in my free time. I am also a huge coffee lover, and I am the type of person who is always down for any adventure.          I chose UT because I always knew since my freshman year of high school that I wanted to go south. I did not even tour UT because of covid, but I did see it virtually and absolutely loved it. It's the perfect size for me, and I have been loving every minute since I have been here. I am a biology major, as in
